Wonderful Wedding Poppies

17 Jul

Poppies are amazing!  It only takes a few stems to add beautiful and vibrant pops of color to any scene.  Color theory has proven that these citrus like hues evoke happiness and fun… what a brilliant color palette for a summer wedding!

I had so much fun gathering poppy inspiration.  It was hard to narrow down the elements!

Weddings for Geeks

Is geek the new chic?

After reading this proposal story from Wired Magazine, you might want to dump the jock and date the dweeb:)
“Geek proposes with ‘romantech’ iPhone app”

You can’t help but smile as you check out this  “Geek is Tres Chic” themed wedding I found on Wedding Chicks.
Here’s a teaser image… but you don’t want to miss the rest of the images

Ultimately, a quirky and creative approach makes memorable impressions!

Ironically, “geek chic” weddings are full of personality and far from robotic… or does this wedding story just destroy my thesis?!?

Inspired by Art

4 Apr

Nowadays, brides have so many resources online to guide them through the planning process.

On top of resourceful sites like The Knot and Project Wedding, the web has hundreds of inspiring bridal blogs (like wedsavvy) to turn to.

However, like over-studying for an exam, sometimes the solutions create more of a problem… a problem called inspiration overload. Future brides can find their head spinning when trying to find that perfect color palette or wedding style to fit both you AND your fiance’s tastes.

For the many couples who cohabit before marriage, why not take cues from your surroundings?  If you think about it, designing your wedding is like decorating a house or apt. with your beau.  You pick out furniture, paint colors, and art  for your home, taking both tastes into account (ideally).

For example, say you and your fiance purchased the “Birds 2” painting (above) for your living room.
You can use the colors, style and mood of the artwork to create your own wedding inspiration board like I did below.

Precious Peonies

26 Mar

I seriously considered changing the date of my wedding to June or July so peonies would be in season.  Something about the plush, overlapping petals gives me whimsical, fairy tale thoughts. Although, these flowers can be pricey, it does not take very many blooms to create a stunning arrangement.  Sometimes less is more.  Here is one of my peony inspiration boards, using a “peony pink” and green color palette.
